A demonstration showing why sprinklers are a good idea.

What strikes me as amazing is how fast a fire can engulf a room. It can get pretty dangerous, even fatal, very quickly in the right situation. They certainly made a compelling case for sprinklers.

Also, it’s cute how the firefighters need to put each other out.

Seems they had intriguing methods to pump water at a high pressure before electricity.

The Charlotte, N.C. Fire Department demonstrates the operation of an 1866 Jeffers hand-pump engine, a 1902 American steam engine and a 1905 American LaFrance steam engine.
